     Marker #1 is White Pine: The wood of this tree is soft and its grain un-troublesome. It works easily under the saw, the drawknife and plane.  This kind of wood is used for chests, shelves, benches and tables. This wood is not good for burning in the winter for it is not a good heat source. Some of these trees have been in the park for over 100 years just awaiting for your arrival to shade you from the hot sun or to sit under and rest your weary feet for just a little while.
